The 5 big reasons why I prefer to volunteer abroad with AIESEC organization
In the beginning of January I completed my first volunteer project in schools in Poland. This project is organized by the AIESEC organization. Then, I was asked a lot by friends at that time why volunteer through AIESEC.
Beforehand, I will explain what AIESEC is first. AIESEC is a global platform for young people to explore and develop their leadership potential. This organization is a non-political, independent, non-profit organization run by students and recent graduates in higher education institutions. Its members are interested in world problems, leadership and management. AIESEC does not discriminate ethnicity, gender, sexual orientation, religion or national / social origin.
Since its establishment, AIESEC has involved and developed more than 1,000,000 young people through AIESEC Experience. The impact of this organization can be seen through AIESEC alumni who represent businesses, NGOs and world leaders, including Nobel Peace Prize winner, Martti Ahtisaari from Finland.
So, personally there are 5 reasons why I volunteer with AIESEC.
Big Youth Organization
AIESEC has been established since 1948 after the second world war. AIESEC present in all around the world, is in 126 countries with 43,000 more members worldwide. Provided nearly 90,000 projects last year and has worked with more than 8,000 organizations.
Activate and Build Leadership
In AIESEC, they believe that youth is the key to shaping a better future. Through each of the experiences they provide, they strive to develop youth leaders with the following qualities: the ability to empower others, be solution-oriented, become world citizens, and develop self-aware. And I imagine the world when we involve and develop every young person to get these qualities then we can see a brighter future for all. That's why I wanted to be one part of it.
Projects that Support My Passion
In AIESEC there are a variety of projects whose purpose is to answer the SDG’s. One of the SDGs that became my concern at that time was Quality Education, especially for early childhood. In AIESEC there are many projects related to that. So as to enable me to choose projects in accordance with the field that I want to develop. So it's not just volunteering, but also developing my soft and hard skills
In my opinion, AIESEC is one of the very well-organized organizations. They have a well-organized information system. If you want to apply to one project, there are steps available that can be followed and also the Experience Manager who will help you. In addition, there are various tools that help us while implementing projects so that their output is more measurable and impactful.
Provide AIESEC Experience Application
One more interesting thing is the availability of AIESEC Experience, the application is available in the Play Store/App Store. This application helped me in preparation before the project and became a platform for sharing stories with other volunteers.
So, those are the reasons why I volunteer abroad with AIESEC. I feel that this organization was helping me to have more impact and develop leadership skills that are much better than before.
Have you ever volunteered abroad with AIESEC? Don't forget to share stories or comments. See you!
